The authors are very grateful that the NZAMT website has made the resource available to teachers, as it is no longer available in hardcopy form. Each activity can be downloaded separately as a word document, allowing modifications to suit the students they are being used with. The weblink is through the NZAMT website , hthttp://nzamt.org.nz/sites/cms/ Click on Pacific resource on the left hand side to find the activities. The final two pages of the document A_Title_Page.doc have a grid matching the mathematics content of the activities to the mathematics strands. As the resource was originally published in 2003, some of the hyperlinks may no longer be current. It is planned that new activities will be added to this resource over time. Please contact robin.averill@vuw.ac.nz if you are interested in contributing activities.

Gapminder World

Gapminder World has been updated with the latest available data on carbon dioxide emissions but data on CO2 emissions are collected so slowly that the newest data is from 2006. The new data reveals that 2006 was the year when China passed the US as the country with the largest total CO2 emission. However, the average american still emits four times as much CO2 as the average Chinese.
The folk at Gapminder are constantly updating the list of indicators and are trying to make the coverage as complete as possible. They have several indicators covering all UN member states plus anumber of other territories. Several of these indicators go back to 1800, and a few go further back to 1600. For suggestions on new indications, please send an email to info@gapminder.org. You can also find links to a full list of the current indicators and the option to download the list to Excel. Some recently added indicators include: - Which country has the most billionaires? - Dramatic increase in girls' age of marriage. - Income poverty still widespread in poor countries.
There are also some very worthwhile video clips you can dowload. **http://www.gapminder.org/**
